Meet our YCAN mentors, who are professionals and have years of experience in the field of environment as strategists, mobilization expert, communication expert, and policy influencer. Through their vast experience and knowledge, they guide and enlighten YCAN about government policies, environmental trends, and importance of youth in the environmental sector to ensure the impactful outcome of YCAN’s work.
Prarthana Borah
Prarthana Borah is India Director of Clean Air Asia, an international NGO, with headquarters in Manila and presence in 8 Asian countries that leads the mission for better air quality and healthier, more livable cities. At Clean Air Asia, Prarthana leads the India operations and works with cities to facilitate policy support and capacity building for better air quality. She is also leading the process of education and public engagement to create dialogue and discussions on air quality management and climate change, low emission urban development and sustainable transportation.
Prarthana has been involved in Environmental Education for children and youth in India for over 15 years. She introduced education for better air quality for middle schools in India having prepared a toolkit for engaging students in citizen science activity in air quality monitoring. She was also involved in environmental education with children in different regions of India including the Indian Ministry of Environment and Forests’ first Climate Change Education programme for eco clubs in schools, a project that is recognized by UNESCO as an ESD best practice.
Prarthana has over two decades of experience in strategic interventions for environmental protection and sustainable development with specific interest in biodiversity conservation, pollution, climate change and traditional knowledge. As communication strategist she has prepared policy documents which served as Government of India’s background papers at COP21 in Paris and the negotiation of the Sustainable Development Goals in United Nations.
Committee Members
Meet our committee members who are nominated by the Director of Clean Air Asia Office India. One member of the committee is a representative from Clean Air Asia India. The committee members engage with the youth of the Indian cities and bring them on the platform of Clean Air Asia to jointly resolve the air quality issues, the Indian cities are facing. Their different academic backgrounds provide us a unique perspective and motivate us to diversify and engage with more youth from different academic and social backgrounds, who are passionate and environment enthusiasts.
Prerna Sharma
YCAN Coordinator
Prerna is the YCAN Project Coordinator and Project Lead at Clean Air Asia, India. Prerna has Twelve years’ experience in the development sector having worked with NGOs like Save the Children and the Indian Environment Society. She has an M.Sc. (Environmental Sciences) and has worked in program design, development, implementation, and management, as well as program and financial monitoring.
